I have been spending my Saturday’s of late building this picnic table and stand-alone benches. My wife Carol has wanted a picnic table for the yard for some time. I found the plans for this project in the Woodsmith vOutdoor Projects Deck Lawn & Garden book published by Oxmoor House. They were pretty straightforward.
It is a change of pace for me from using hardwoods and building indoor furniture to using softwoods (Douglas Fir and Redwood) and building outdoor furniture. Besides the redwood, this whole project was made of Doug Fir that was glued together. This worked quite well, because it was going to be painted. I really enjoyed doing it which has been an encouragement for me to do more outdoor furniture. Be sure and check out the photo gallery of the production process.
