I had a brief break from woodworking. I jumped back in by building a Grill Table. I do a lot of grilling, so I thought a Grill Table might be helpful. Since this was an outdoor project, I built the table out of Cedar. I used plans from the Kreg Jig people. Hence, the table is primarily constructed using a Kreg Jig which was really fun.
The table consisted of some 4×4’s for the legs, 2×4’s for the main frame parts and 1×4’s for the slats across the top. After the parts are cut out according to the materials list, it was just a matter of building the top by attaching the top slats to the frame and then attaching all that to the legs.
I made a mistake in all of this. The 4×4 legs are quite heavy and a bit cumbersome. I should have braced them on the underside. I thought about that, but did not do it. When I moved the table to my grill area, one of the legs cracked the top a bit. It is not terrible, but it could have been avoided.
I finished the table with some Behr Exterior Stain from Home Depot. I put a couple of coats on it and all is well. I have used the table several times while grilling and for some other outdoor activity. Please check some photos of this project.
