Tool Table

After completing the shed and moving my wife’s “stuff” into it I had more room for tools. Yippee!! I have had a Delta spindle sander for a few months now. It is billed as being “portable”. Yeah right. The thing weighs 80 lbs. I needed to build a tool stand to mount the sander. And, of course, it needs to be portable so I can roll it out whenever I need it. I found the plans for the stand from PlansNow, they are originally from Woodsmith. All you use is one 4×8 sheet of regular plywood.

There is not much room for error but it all fits. The stand has a drawer and castors as you can see. That way I can roll it to wherever I need to use it. It is assembled with wood screws and glue. I hedged my bets a bit by doing some minor original assembly with a nail gun.

After I got it assembled I mounted the spindle sander with lag bolts. It is just the right height for me (I am rather tall, 6’3). It rolls very nicely and works like a charm. And, the spindle sander is excellent. I don’t need it that often, but when I do, it sure saves me a ton of time. I used it a ton on the Wine Rack project. Be sure and check out the photo gallery of the production process.
